Baltimore Orioles owner Edward Bennett Williams, insisting he has not decided who will become the team’s next general manager, said it may take “quite a while” to replace Hank Peters, The Evening Sun of Baltimore reported.

Williams denied reports he will name former Oriole and Hall of Fame slugger Frank Robinson to replace Peters.

“I’m going about this in a very orderly fashion,” Williams said. “I’m not delaying, but I’m not going to make any mistakes. There’s absolutely nothing (new). I am proceeding on course, working this out. It’s going to take quite a while. I said earlier it could be (decided) at the end of the month, but it might take longer than that.”

Williams fired Peters and farm director Tom Giordano Oct. 4, saying he planned on reorganizing the club’s front office. Baltimore finished the season 67-95, the worst record in the franchise’s 33-year history.
