Orange County Community College Roundup : Golden West Is Water Polo Loser

Bruce Fike scored the winning goal with 3:15 remaining to lead Long Beach College to a 12-11 victory over Golden West in a South Coast Conference water polo match at Belmont Plaza in Long Beach Friday.

Golden West (11-4, 2-1) was led by Craig Douglas and Scott Larsen with four goals each, Jeff Wines with two goals and David Budman with one.

In Orange Empire Conference men’s soccer:

Rancho Santiago 2, Orange Coast 1--Robert Hernandez scored a goal late in the first half to break a 1-1 tie for Rancho Santiago at Santa Ana. Hector Tapia scored on a penalty kick early in the game as Rancho Santiago took a 1-0 lead. Javier Diaz scored on a penalty kick to tie the score, 1-1, for OCC (6-4-2, 4-2-1) midway through the first half.

In South Coast Conference men’s soccer:

Long Beach City 4, Golden West 3--Kurt Lundberg, George Rojas and Dwayne Lee each scored one goal to lead Golden West (10-1-2, 1-1) in a losing effort at Long Beach.

In women’s South Coast Conference soccer:

Golden West 4, L.A. Harbor 0--Shannon Augustine had two goals and Michelle Hustwid and Lynn Titzkowski had one each for Golden West (6-3, 5-3) at home.
