Water-Saving Suggestion
There has been a great deal of publicity regarding our water shortage, and the public is again being asked to conserve.
Yet daily, on my travels around Southern California freeways, I observe thousands of gallons of water being wasted on ice plant, apparently by watering systems that are on timers.
Even on rainy days these systems unnecessarily water ice plant, which does not need water and can survive year after year with absolutely no water except what nature provides. Please, California Department of Transportation, turn off the systems so we humans will not have to suffer. Once again if our conservation works, then the water companies can raise their rates citing decreased revenues and stick us with higher water bills as happened the last time there was a shortage.
