Brad Daugherty’s weight is about the same; it’s just shifted around a bit for the Cleveland Cavalier center.

Daugherty spent his summer vacation in North Carolina working with weights, and the results are noticeable. While his backside remains large, the Cavaliers’ second-year, 7-foot center is now packing a solid 260 pounds.

“Last year I could hold my position in my lower body, but guys would lean on my upper body and start to push me out,” Daugherty said. “I added two or three inches to my chest. I think it will help me post up.”

“He put in some work,” said Bryan Marshall, the Cavs’ strength and conditioning instructor. “He’s still a young guy. He has a big body, and he’s going to get tighter.

“A big man has to stay strong. As long as they don’t get that macho thing, they’re not going to get too big.”

Daugherty, 22, whose brother Greg is 7-foot-2 and weighs close to 300 pounds, is blessed with a large frame. Even when he was only 6-foot-3 in high school, Daugherty weighed 215 pounds.

“My butt’s always been big,” he said. “Maybe it looks fat, but I was able to move up and down the floor last year. I guess it’s hereditary. Everybody in my family has thick legs.”
