A 22-year-old unemployed construction worker was shot and killed Thursday in his El Cajon apartment in the 700 block of Magnolia Avenue. Several hours later, his 20-year-old wife was arrested on suspicion of murder and booked into the County Jail at Las Colinas, El Cajon police said.

Police found Clifford Levi Olson, who was shot twice in the head, lying face down on a bed about 11:30 a.m. Police had responded to neighbors’ reports of shots being fired in the apartment.

Corinne Yvonne Olson was immediately suspected in the slaying and a countywide bulletin was issued, alerting officials to look for the woman and her 1-year-old daughter.

In mid-afternoon, Corinne Olson called San Diego police from a phone booth in La Jolla. She was arrested by San Diego police and taken to the department’s western substation. She later was transferred to Las Colinas. The child was placed in county custody at the Hillcrest Receiving Home.

An El Cajon police spokeswoman said police have no motive for the killing and that the investigation is continuing.
