. . . You had to be fast to catch it: “The Running Man”--which takes lots of shots at game-show mania, with its storyline about a wildly popular life-or-death game show of the future (prizes for studio guests include a “Running Man” board game)--also took a jab at a one-time TV favorite. This via a quick shot of a poster touting that futuristic favorite, “The Hate Boat.”

. . . Outtakes was returning a phone call when we came upon this answer-phone message: “Sorry, I can’t talk with you--I’ve just been called away to Israel to join the crew of ‘Rambo III.’ But, I should be fired within 24 hours. So please, leave a message. I’ll get back to you.”
