Thanks to Robert “Mr. Potato Head” Hilburn for revealing the true meaning of those enigmatic hits by R.E.M., U2, and the even inscrutable Bruce.
Geez, and all this time I though they were variations on such pop standards as “Last Train to Clarkesville” and “Sugar, Sugar.” Must’ve been the sour cream and chives in my ears.
Please serve up a sequel in the form of spud-shaped decoder rings . . . so I won’t be fooled again.
