24,563 See Texas Women Beat No. 1 Tennessee
Forward Clarissa Davis scored a team-high 45 points as second-ranked Texas downed No. 1-rated Tennessee, 97-78, in women’s basketball Wednesday.
The win raised the Lady Longhorns to 6-0, while the Lady Volunteers fell to 3-1 before 24,563 fans who packed the Thompson-Boling arena--a record crowd for a women’s college game.
Texas never trailed and led by as many as 22 points in the second period. Guard Yulonda Wimbush added 18 points for the Lady Longhorns.
Center Sheila Frost led Tennessee with 21 points.
