All Those Rules Bog Down the Game
I am sick and tired of all the penalties being called in pro football. With all the rule changes and additions, the football rule book must rival golf’s as the most complicated and counterproductive in all of sport.
They instituted rules to cut down on injuries, yet we have more injuries than ever. They use rules to stop fighting and taunting, yet the incidents of both have never been higher. And finally, there is instant replay to eliminate bad calls, yet there are still bad calls galore and longer and more boring games to boot.
The tail is wagging the dog and pretty soon football games are going to resemble Congressional hearings--five hours of doing nothing.
