Such an Easy Effort Is Futurity Choice
El Fasto ran a faster qualifying time, but Such an Easy Effort has been made the 2-1 favorite for tonight’s Golden State Futurity at Los Alamitos.
Ten quarter horses are running in the 400-yard race worth $611,000.
Such an Easy Effort, whose qualifying time was 19.80 seconds, is listed at 2-1 on the morning line, compared to 5-2 for El Fasto, who was clocked in 19.72.
Before her qualifier, Such an Easy Effort had been winless in five starts at Los Alamitos. On Sept. 11, however, the 2-year-old filly won the Denim N Diamonds Futurity at Hollywood Park in 21.57 for 440 yards.
El Fasto, a 2-year-old gelding, has won 5 of 12 starts this year. Kenny Hart, who rode him for the first time in the trials, will be aboard again tonight.
Eddie Garcia, the leading jockey at Los Alamitos and the rider of Such an Easy Effort in all but one of her races, has the mount in the Futurity.
