Ted Tollner, Buffalo Bills receivers coach, said Thursday he’s very interested in the head coaching job at Kansas but will fulfill his obligations to the Bills.

“I’ve talked with them,” said Tollner, who joined the Bills this season after four years as head coach at USC.

Tollner, 47, said Kansas officials wanted him to go there this weekend for an interview, but he told them he couldn’t because his primary obligation was preparing the Bills for Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots.

“I will honor my commitment to the Bills fully,” Tollner said when asked if he would leave the team before the season ends.

Tollner said he made his decision to stay with the Bills despite knowing it may cost him a chance at the Jayhawk job.

Kansas is seeking to replaced fired coach Bob Valesente, who posted a 4-17-1 record during his two seasons at the school.

Former Ohio State Coach Earl Bruce already has rejected an offer to replace Valesente.
