Miles Leads Orange Coast to Tournament Win
Dave Miles had 21 points and 13 rebounds Monday night to lead the Orange Coast College men’s basketball team to an 85-68 victory over Trade Tech in the first round of the Los Angeles Valley tournament at Los Angeles Valley College.
The Pirates (11-6) took the lead for good, 15-13, with eight minutes left in the half on a Miles’ dunk. They led at halftime, 36-24, and extended it to more than 20 points through most of the second half.
Reid Lukas, Dareck Crane, LaMont Speed and Ted Stitt scored 14 points each for Orange Coast. Lukas and Crane also had eight rebounds each.
In women’s play:
Contra Costa 78, Saddleback 57--Charlotte Wiley scored 31 points to lead Contra Costa (9-6) in a nonconference game at Saddleback. Julie Monaghan had 21 points for the Gauchos (5-7).
