A transient was believed to have started a fire that caused $50,000 in damage Saturday to a house in the 4100 block of Ocean View Boulevard in Southeast San Diego, authorities said.

The fire was discovered about 6 a.m. and was extinguished 15 minutes later by 25 firefighters, San Diego Fire Department spokesman Larry Cook said. The house was being remodeled and was unoccupied at the time, he said.

There were no injuries, Cook said.
