UCI Pair Advances in Tennis Nationals

UC Irvine’s doubles team of Mike Briggs and Richard Lubner defeated Tim Leos and Mike Prittard of Tennessee, 6-1, 6-3, Friday to advance to today’s second round of the National Collegiate tennis tournament in Palm Springs.

Lubner also defeated Vince Van Gelderen of Clemson in the first round of singles play but lost to Alex Nizet of SMU in the second round. Briggs and Shige Kanroji were eliminated in the first round.
