Three acres of grassland burned before state Forestry Department firefighters contained the blaze Monday night, authorities said.
The fire in ranchland near California 94 and La Posta Road was reported at 6:43 p.m. and was contained by 8 p.m., a fire official said.
A Campo station firefighter said the fire virtually extinguished itself.
The cause of the fire is not known, said Capt. Tom Gardner of the California Department of Forestry. No one was hurt.
