Local News in Brief : Telephone Lineman Killed
A Pacific Bell lineman working atop a power pole in Palmdale was crushed to death when the pole snapped at the base and fell to the ground, authorities said.
Marvin Schnacker, 43, of Palmdale, was at the top of the pole at a construction site at 13th Street West and Elizabeth Lake Road Wednesday when it “broke off at the bottom and fell over,” Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Ron Nyvakken said.
Pacific Bell spokeswoman Lisa Zanville said Schnacker had been with the company since 1962.
