Despondent Man Leaps Into Fire
A man despondent over breaking up with his girlfriend set his Hollywood Hills home on fire, then, as firefighters watched helplessly, jumped back into the house to his death in the flaming living room, Los Angeles police said today.
The suicide occurred shortly after 11 p.m. Monday at the home that the victim, Brian E. Morgan, 28, was renting from his ex-girlfriend’s father, police said. Firefighters called to the scene found the naked man standing on the front porch of the blazing house at 5960 Chula Vista Way. After warning firefighters to stay back or he would jump, police said, Morgan leaped through the window. Firefighters found his charred body after dousing the blaze.
