The Green Bay Packers drew criticism from the Milwaukee branch of the NAACP for what the civil rights group said was the team’s failure to cooperate in efforts to provide equal opportunity for minorities in coaching and front-office positions.

The Packers retained Willie Peete, a black assistant coach under former Coach Forrest Gregg. New Coach Lindy Infante has hired four other assistants, and one of them, Greg Blache, is black.

“If the Packers have any plans to implement programs for minority recruitment at any level, they have not been willing to share these plans with the NAACP,” Felmers O. Chaney, president of the Milwaukee chapter, said. “We will be evaluating what action or responses we will have if the Packers continue to ignore minority concerns.”
