UC Santa Barbara Defeats Pacific
Brian Johnson scored 21 of his 23 points in the first half as UC Santa Barbara took a 97-59 Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. victory over Pacific Thursday night.
The Gauchos handed the Tigers, who haven’t won a PCAA game, their 13th straight conference loss.
Johnson connected on six three-point shots to help build a the Gauchos’ 49-29 halftime lead. Brian Shaw added 12 points, 12 rebounds and 13 assists.
The 97 points was the highest total Santa Barbara has had against another conference team since the Gauchos re-entered the PCAA in the 1976-77 season.
Pacific was led by Domingo Rosario, who scored 16 points. Christian Gray added 15 points and 9 rebounds.
Pacific held its only lead, 2-0, on a basket by Don Lyttle.
