Local News in Brief : Santa Ana : Visitor to County Killed in Collision

A Minnesota woman who was visiting friends in Orange County was killed in an automobile accident in Santa Ana Tuesday, police said.

June Olive Burkholz, 65, of Mankato, Minn., died when the car in which she was riding collided with another car in the 600 block of West 17th Street, police said. She was riding in the back seat of a car driven by Magnus Sylvester Egge, 66, of San Clemente.

Their car collided with one driven by Karen Sara Cunningham, 32, of Orange, police said. Egge and Cunningham were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The accident occurred at about 10:53 a.m. as Egge attempted to turn onto Parton Street, and his car was struck by Cunningham, who was traveling east on West 17th, police said. No charges have been filed.

Burkholz died of internal injuries while undergoing surgery at Western Medical Center, police said.
