NBA Roundup : Suns Send Nance to Cavaliers, Then Win
Walter Davis scored 16 of his 35 points in the fourth quarter, including 8 in the final 1:18, as the Phoenix Suns turned back the Cleveland Cavaliers, 109-103, at Phoenix Thursday night just hours after the teams were involved in a multi-player trade.
Before the game, the Suns sent forwards Larry Nance and Mike Sanders to the Cavaliers for center Mark West, guard Kevin Johnson and forward Tyrone Corbin. None of the players suited up for the game. The deal also included draft choices.
Davis tied the score, 101-101, on two free throws with 1:18 left and put the Suns ahead to stay on a 15-foot jumper with 42 seconds left.
Dallas 108, Houston 106--Rolando Blackman, who scored 29 points, made a 20-foot jump shot with 26 seconds remaining at Houston to give the Mavericks their seventh straight victory.
Houston had a chance to tie the game and force overtime, but Eric (Sleepy) Floyd’s shot was blocked by Derek Harper at the buzzer.
Washington 129, Sacramento 110--Jeff Malone scored 35 points, and the Bullets broke a three-game losing streak by beating the Kings at Sacramento.
