San Diego
A 36-year-old San Diego woman was critically wounded early Friday when a man walked up to the car she was sitting in and shot her in the forehead, police said.
Maria Delores Avila was listed in critical condition Friday night in the trauma unit at UC San Diego Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said.
According to police, Avila was sitting in the front seat of a car that contained three men in the 200 block of Sycamore Road. At 12:46 a.m., a man walked up to the car and struck up a conversation.
As the man walked away from the car, Avila told the three men: “He is going to kill me.”
The man returned moments later, shot Avila three times in the head, and fled.
