PCAA Roundup : Utah State Clinches 2nd Place

Jeff Anderson scored 22 points and Jon Judkins had 11 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists as Utah State clinched second place in the Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. by routing Pacific, 102-73, Saturday night at Logan, Utah.

Utah State (18-9, 13-5) rolled to a 50-20 halftime lead and handed Pacific (5-23, 0-18) its 21st straight defeat, the longest current losing streak in NCAA Division I.

Christian Gray had 25 points and 9 rebounds for Pacific.

UNLV 86, New Mexico State 68--Gerald Paddio scored 21 points as the fifth-ranked Runnin’ Rebels trounced the Aggies at Las Vegas.

New Mexico (15-15, 8-10) was within 40-39 early in the second half when Las Vegas (26-4, 15-3) went on a 23-7 surge that included five three-point baskets--two each by Paddio and Keith James and one by Karl James.

San Jose State 69, Fresno State 62--Ricky Berry scored 21 points and made four free throws in the final 24 seconds to preserve the Spartans’ victory over the Bulldogs at San Jose.

The Spartans (13-14, 8-10) led the entire game, but Fresno (9-18, 6-12) pulled within 63-59 with 40 seconds left. Then Berry made four free throws and Steve Haney added two for San Jose.

Jervis Cole had 24 points and 11 rebounds for Fresno.
