Dan Hampton, Chicago Bears defensive end, is expected to plead not guilty to charges of driving while intoxicated, speeding and disorderly conduct stemming from an incident Wednesday in Jacksonville, Ark.
A Jacksonville police spokesman said the disorderly conduct charge was filed Friday on the basis of an affidavit from Sharon Marcotte, a cook at the restaurant Hampton had left before the arrest. The affidavit said Hampton returned to the restaurant after being freed early Wednesday and threatened employees who had alerted the police that he was intoxicated, saying, “I’ll get even.”
Last June in Chicago, Hampton pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol in December 1986 and was fined $500. In Jacksonville, where he attended high school, he pleaded guilty to a public intoxication charge in February 1984 and was fined $55.25.
