Epitome, 1987 champion juvenile filly, will be sidelined at least two months because of a cut ankle.
The 3-year-old filly finished second to Lost Kitty in Friday’s Honeybee Stakes at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, Ark., and returned to the barn with a three-inch gash on her left front ankle.
Epitome, which won an Eclipse award after she ran first in the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies at Hollywood Park, may not race again until late summer.
