Starlites Beat Minnesota in Volleyball
The Los Angeles Starlites defeated the Minnesota Monarchs, 16-14, 13-15, 6-15, 15-10, 11-8, in front of 2,972 at Augsburg College in Minneapolis Saturday.
Los Angeles (11-3) won the battle for first place behind the play of Rita Crockett-Royster, who led the Starlights with 20 kills and both teams with 23 digs. Minnesota’s record fell to 9-5.
The 2,972 in attendance represented the largest crowd this year and second-largest in the two-year history of Major League Volleyball. The two teams set records with most combined kills (158) and digs (202) in a match.
