Valencia Invitational : Woodbridge Wins Both Team Titles

The Woodbridge High School boys’ and girls’ track and field teams both took first place Saturday at the Valencia Invitational track and field meet at Valencia High School.

In the boys’ division, Woodbridge won with 49 points, three points ahead of second-place North Riverside. Katella finished third with 38 points.

Louis Muniz of Woodbridge won the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in 39.86 seconds and teammate Tim Williams finished second in 41.0. Muniz also won the long jump with a leap of 21-feet 7-inches.

Jay Magruder of Katella recorded two personal bests, winning the 200 meters in 1:58.78 and finishing second in the 400 with 50.67. Katella’s 400-meter relay team finished first in 44.17.

In the 3,200 meters, La Habra’s Terrence Mahon, winner of the Orange County cross-country championships last October, won in 9:29.31. Igor Daza of Valencia was second in 9:30.5.

Brian Killeen of Valencia finished second in the 800 in 1:58.78.

The Woodbridge girls’ team finished first with 82 points, well ahead of Apple Valley (43 points) and Barstow (33 points).

Kaci Keffer of Woodbridge won the 300-meter low hurdles in 46.87. Woodbridge’s relay teams won the 400 meters in 50.69 and the 1,600 in 4:04.4.

Sita Jones of La Habra won the 3,200 meters in 11:16.0 and the 1,600 meters in 5:17.11.

Elizabeth Bauer of Foothill set a school record in winning the high jump in 5-4 3/4.
