Roundup : Ogle Throws No-Hitter for Ocean View in 1-0 Victory

Senior Derek Ogle pitched a no-hitter, leading Ocean View High School to a 1-0 victory over Marina at Ocean View Monday.

Ocean View scored on a pinch-hit home run by Cory Colbert in the fifth inning.

Ogle (2-2) struck out two for Ocean View (9-7-1, 3-3-1). Marina is 2-4-1 in league play.

In Garden Grove League baseball:

Kennedy 6, Rancho Alamitos 2--Kennedy’s Steve Rath hit a three-run home run in the third inning to lead Kennedy (11-8, 5-1) at Rancho Alamitos.

In Angelus League golf:

Servite 195, Garden Grove 213--Servite’s Greg Geyer was the medalist, with a one-over-par 36, in Santa Ana.

In nonleague golf:

San Clemente 368, Trabuco Hills 460--San Clemente’s Chris Saxe was the medalist, shooting a two-over-par 66 at San Clemente Municipal golf course.

Orange Lutheran 212, Canyon 217--Orange Lutheran’s Dave Ferrel and Barry Streelman were medalists, each shooting a three-over-par 39, in Corona.

In Century League softball:

Villa Park 5, Santa Ana Valley 2--Winning pitcher Munique Hernandez got her fourth straight win, giving up five hits for host Villa Park (8-11, 2-0). Villa Park’s Suzie Barnett was 3 for 4 and scored a run.

In Garden Grove softball:

Kennedy 6, Rancho Alamitos 0--Winning pitcher Lori Graper gave up four hits in seven innings for host Kennedy (24-2, 6-0). Kennedy’s Gina Alcoser hit a solo home run in the fourth inning.

In Orange League softball:

Western 3, Savanna 2 (8 innings)--Winning pitcher Ivy Pinkerton got her second league victory, giving up eight hits, at Savanna. Tania Seiks scored in the eighth for Western (2-0 in league play). Savanna is 9-8, 1-1 in league play.

In Sea View League softball:

Tustin 11, Corona del Mar 0 (5 innings)--Shannon Ellis pitched a one-hitter for host Tustin (10-3, 7-0), striking out 10. Tustin’s Yahe Kinoshita had a triple and two RBIs in the game that was called under the mercy rule. Corona del Mar is 0-7 in league play.

In South Coast League softball:

Capistrano Valley 5, Dana Hills 0--Maria Rodriguez, Lisa La Russo, Stacey Martnick and Sara Murillo each were 2 for 4 for the Cougars (14-3, 2-0) at Dana Hills (0-2 in league play).

In nonleague softball:

Claremont (Garden Grove) 15, Van Horn 4--Miggie May was 3 for 4 with a single, a double, a triple and four RBIs for Claremont (3-1, 1-1).

In Angelus League tennis:

Servite 10, Mater Dei 8--Servite’s No. 1 singles player Jeff Belloli won two of three matches, improving his record to 28-2 and helping Servite to a 9-1 record, 7-0 in league play.

In a Century League boys’ track and field meet:

Villa Park 98, Foothill 38--John Armstrong won the shotput with a toss of 52-6 and was second in the discus at 152-11 to lead Villa Park to its 57th straight dual meet, dating to the 1981 season.

In an Empire League boys’ track and field meet:

Katella 87, Cypress 49--Katella’s Darin Whitney won the pole vault at 13-feet and teammate Ian Donnelly won the high jump at 6-4, at Katella. Jay Magruder won the quarter mile in 50.8 and Brian McDaniel won the 100-yard dash in 10.1.

In an Empire league girls’ track and field meet:

Katella 69, Cypress 58--Cypress’ Staci Carrington ran a personal best in the two-mile in 11:38.6, beating Katella’s Martha Pinto, who finished in 11:41, at Katella. The loss was Pinto’s first dual meet defeat of the season. Katella’s Melissa Gardner put the shot 34-feet.

In an Orange League girls’ track and field meet:

Brea-Olinda 77, Magnolia 54--Brea’s Tanisha Maze leaped 35-feet 2-inches in the triple jump and 17-5 in the long jump, at Magnolia. Brea’s Nancy Chabot ran the 200 meters in 26.9 seconds.

In a Sea View League girls’ track and field meet:

Corona del Mar 68, Estancia 59--Corona del Mar’s d’Layne Kerr ran the 100 yards in 11.5, at Estancia. Lauri Sawin of Corona del Mar and Christie Howard of Estancia tied in the high jump at 5-2. Hart jumped 16-3 in the long jump.
