Marcelo Balboa, a former Cerritos High School soccer player, will be in the lineup for the U.S. national team when it plays Chivas of Guadalajara, Mexico, today at 5 p.m. at Santa Ana Stadium.

The game will be a test of sorts for the U.S. team’s chances of qualifying for the Olympics at Seoul.

The U.S. national team can qualify for the Games if it ties or defeats El Salvador when the teams meet May 25 in Indianapolis. The United States previously defeated El Salvador, 4-2, last Oct. 20 in Central America.

Chivas played at Santa Ana Stadium March 15, when it defeated Honduras, 1-0.

There will be a preliminary match at 3 p.m. between the Orange County Soccer League all-stars and the Coast League all-stars. Gates open at 2 p.m.
