After only eight outings, KCOP-TV Channel 13 is moving the start time of its gritty, often profane police show “The Street” back an hour, to midnight, beginning tonight. Though a KCOP spokeswoman said Friday that the station hadn’t received any complaints about the show’s rough content or language, she said the subject matter of the show was better suited to a later air time. For the first eight nights of its 11 p.m. run, “The Street” had averaged only a 2.2 rating (each rating point represents 46,527 households in Los Angeles)--a distant fifth place among the seven local VHF stations. By contrast, rival independent station KTLA-TV Channel 5 earned a 6.8 rating during that same time period with reruns of “Cheers.” KCOP will fill its 11 p.m. weeknight slot with reruns of “Star Trek,” hoping its lead-in will improve ratings for “The Street.”
