Rawls Faces Wills for Shot at Title

A state heavyweight title shot will be on line tonight when Avery Rawls takes on Mark Wills in the 10-round featured bout at the Irvine Marriott Hotel.

Promoter Don Fraser plans to pairing the winner of tonight’s fight against Mike White, the current California heavyweight champion. That fight would be held sometime in June or July at Irvine.

Rawls, of Compton, has an 11-2-1 record. Wills is 10-4.

Genaro Hernandez of Los Angeles fights Juan Manuel Vega at 130 pounds in a 10-rounder as one of five other scheduled bouts. The first fight is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets go on sale at the Grand Ballroom at 10 a.m.
