Schaetzl Top Player in the Freeway League
First baseman Kyle Schaetzl of Sonora High School was named Freeway League player of the year and Paul Thomas of La Habra was named coach of the year in a vote of league coaches.
Schaetzl batted .466 with 8 home runs and 28 RBIs for Sonora. Thomas led La Habra to an overall record of 15-9 and a share of the league championship with Fullerton.
