Cobras Play New York Knights Tonight

The Los Angeles Cobras take their two-game winning streak to New York against the Knights tonight in Arena Football League action at Madison Square Garden.

Last week, the Cobras (2-3) defeated the New England Steamrollers, 27-20, at the Sports Arena. Despite being held to their lowest total of the season by New England, the Cobras had a solid performance from quarterback Matt Stevens, who completed 14 of 23 passes for 147 yards. He threw for three touchdowns and ran for another.

Stevens leads the league in passing, having completed 87 of 147 for 1,194 yards and 28 touchdowns in 5 games.

The Knights (1-4) are coming off a 46-36 loss to the Pittsburgh Gladiators. The Cobras lost to the Knights, 60-52, in the season opener.

The Knights are led by former USC and Carson High School star Al Washington, who leads the team in catches (19) and interceptions (2). Washington caught two 45-yard touchdown passes against the Cobras in their first meeting.

New York, ranked second in the league in pass defense, features lineman Quinton Knight, who is second in the league in sacks with seven.

The Knights trail Los Angeles by one game for the fourth and final playoff spot.
