A man went on a rampage at the wheel of a road grader at Chino Airport and badly damaged at least three planes before he was shot by police and sheriff’s deputies, authorities said. The man, identified as Randy LaComb of Anaheim, was shot several times below the waist after running amok for at least five minutes, said a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department spokesman. LaComb, 37, was airlifted to a San Bernardino hospital where he was in stable condition. Authorities said he was charged with assault with a deadly weapon. Police and sheriff’s deputies on the ground and a sheriff’s deputy in a helicopter opened fire on the man after he ran into the side of Flight Craft, a business that gives flight lessons and refuels planes at the airport. The motive for LaComb’s actions was not known.
