Though the Emmy Awards are three months away, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has already voted engineering Emmy Awards for the Optical Disc Corp. and the Sony Corp.

The award to Optical Disc is for development of the Recodable Laser Videodisc System which makes disc-based editing possible.

The Sony award is for the world’s first commercially available digital video cassette recorder which makes an unlimited number of copies at once without affecting video or audio quality.

The awards will be presented Aug. 27 at Pasadena Civic Auditorium.
