As many as 20 members of the Toronto Blue Jays were involved in a barroom brawl in snowbound St. John, Canada, six weeks ago after rookie Todd Stottlemyre tried to approach a female customer, newspaper accounts said.

“Once the first punch was thrown, they all jumped in, just like a team,” said off-duty bartender Billy Vaughan, who said he was hit by George Bell. “A lot of people have told me I should sue George Bell, but it’s enough to know I was clobbered by the American League MVP.”

No police report was filed. An American League spokesman said that league President Bobby Brown was aware of the incident in the New Brunswick city but was treating it as a club issue.
