Nothing Entertaining in Magic’s Crass Act of the Forearm Bash
OK, I can handle it when Magic Johnson gets away with an extra step here or a foul there and is generally protected because “he’s Magic,” but Tuesday’s forearm bash (a la Oakland A’s Mark McGwire) of Isiah Thomas was just a little too much.
What would have happened if one of those dirty players such as Bill Laimbeer or Rick Mahorn did something like this? I’ll tell you: Instant brawl, technicals everywhere, possible ejections and certain front-page negative press coverage. Looks as if Magic’s temper and ego show through just like anybody else’s when he gets a good whippin’. Isn’t it time he got the same treatment back as everybody else?
