Bill Robinson, police spokesman, said officers found Carrasco lying on the street.

He said that while paramedics were taking Carrasco to the medical center, police received a call to respond to the intersection Broadway and 9th Avenue regarding a second stabbing victim.

They found Gabriel Baego, 25, of San Diego. He had been stabbed in the stomach. He was also taken to the medical center, where his condition Saturday was listed as serious.

Robinson said witnesses told police that the victims were first involved in an altercation with a group of people near Broadway and 12th Avenue. The incident then moved to Broadway and 11th Avenue, and witnesses saw two males and a female hurriedly leave the area in a taxi.

Based on more information from witnesses, detectives went to the Las Flores Hotel on 4th Avenue and took two males and one female into custody.

After interviewing the suspects, homicide detectives arrested and booked Julio Manuel Ochoa, 20, of San Diego on suspicion of murder.
