Golf Roundup : Fast Finish Helps Okamoto Tie Walker and Chillemi for Lead

Defending champion Ayako Okamoto birdied two of the last four holes Saturday to tie Colleen Walker and Connie Chillemi for the lead at 137 in the second round of the $300,000 Lady Keystone Open golf tournament at Hershey, Pa.

Okamoto, who shared the opening-round lead with Juli Inkster, parred the first 14 holes en route to her 2-under-par 70 on the 6,348-yard West Course of the Hershey Country Club.

Walker and Chillemi both shot 69s.

Sherri Turner, Marci Bozarth and Sandra Palmer were next at 138. Turner had the day’s best round, a 65, to move into contention. She had eight birdies and one bogey.

Palmer had a 69 and Boxarth a 70.

Inkster, who had an opening-round 67, three-putted for a bogey on the first hole and slumped to a 73 that left her at 140.

Harold Henning sank a 25-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to pull into a tie for the lead with PGA Seniors Tour rookie Don Bies at 136 after two rounds of the $350,000 Northville Invitational at Jericho, N.Y.

Henning’s putt completed a round of three-under-par 69, while Bies had a 67. They were one shot ahead of Dave Hill, who shot a 68.

Dale Douglass, Bob Charles and Bruce Crampton were next at 138. Douglass had a 67, Charles a 68 and Crampton a 70.
