Man Loses Foot in Train Accident
A train on the Santa Fe Railroad tracks in downtown San Diego ran over a man and severed his left foot at the ankle early Sunday.
Ernesto Rueda, whose age and residence were unavailable, was rushed into surgery at UC San Diego Medical Center soon after the 3 a.m. accident, authorities said.
Rueda was listed in good condition after the surgery, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The incident occurred between Grape and Hawthorn streets, where the tracks parallel the waterfront, said Dave Cohen, a police spokesman. He did not elaborate on how the accident occurred.
