George Foreman, the 40-year-old former heavyweight champion, disposed of Carlos Hernandez Sunday night like a man swatting an insect, then called for bigger game.

“I’m older, but just like wine, I’m getting better,” Foreman said after stopping Hernandez in 1:36 of the fourth round for his 10th consecutive victory after a 10-year layoff.

“Mike Tyson, the whole bunch, are avoiding me,” Foreman said. “It’s time I stopped playing around with these types. These fights are being pushed upon me. No one wants to fight me.”

Foreman’s latest victory came on the eve of the 21-year-old Tyson’s defense of the undisputed heavyweight title against Michael Spinks at the Atlantic City Convention Hall.

While Foreman displayed good punching power, he appeared to be extremely slow.

Hernandez, 225, backed Foreman up in the opening seconds of the bout with a left hook high on the head and another to the side of the head. But most of the time, the 245-pound Foreman merely ignored the impact of Hernandez’s punches. He didn’t even blink when Hernandez hit him in the face with an overhand right.

Foreman, of Humble, Tex., has a record of 55-2 with 52 knockouts. Hernandez, of West New York, N.J., is 18-6-1 with 13 knockouts.
