Milby Family Collects Another Track Title

For the second day in a row, a member of the Milby family in Valencia won an event at The Athletics Congress National Youth track and field championships at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut.

Jamal Milby of the West Valley Eagles won the bantam (for athletes born in 1978 and ‘79) boys’ long jump Saturday, a day after his brother Chaka won the young men’s (athletes born in 1970 and ‘71) shotput.

Jamal leaped 14 feet, 2 inches to win the long jump and Chaka put the shot 54-6 3/4 to win that event.

Chaka Milby, this year’s City Section champion as a Cleveland High senior, has a personal best of 57-2 3/4.

West Valley also won the bantam boys’ 400-meter relay as Mario Thompson, Bryant Hayes, Justin Flood and Armone Lochard clocked 55.80.

Lochard placed third in the 100 (13.50) Saturday after finishing fourth in the 200 (28.00) Friday.

West Valley teammate Adam Horst placed third in the bantam boys’ high jump with a 4-2 3/4 effort.
