Hotels Offer Discounts

Ramada Inns is offering special summer weekend rates, including $10 discount coupons toward a Budget car rental.

Rates on Friday, Saturday and Sunday start at $31.90 per room a night, based on double occupancy. Children under 18 stay free when accompanied by a parent.

Another plan, which runs all week, allows four people to share a room for a rate that starts at $29.

Although these rates are the bottom line, the more than 400 hotels in the chain could charge higher prices, depending on the property. Guests receive the car rental discount coupon during check-in.

The summer promotion ends Aug. 31. Contact travel agents or Ramada Inns at (800) 228-2828.

Meanwhile, Holiday Inns throughout Florida are offering a Florida Summer Saver rate through Sept. 5. This program includes a special restaurant promotion: “Kids Eat for 99 Cents.”

Guests can get certificates good for $5 off one night, up to $10 a day, on any two-person room rate at 92 participating Holiday Inns in Florida. The certificates are available through Florida State Welcome Centers.

Guests using the certificates also get breakfast, lunch and dinner for their children for 99 cents from children’s menus at 55 participating properties. The 99-cent rate is available to children 12 and under when accompanied by an adult hotel guest paying a full meal price, with the offer limited to two children per adult.

Reservations are necessary. Among cities with participating hotels, including the 99-cent meal rate for children, are Orlando, Miami, Ft. Lauderdale and Tampa in Florida.

Holiday Inns is still sponsoring a Summer Great Rates program that offers discounts of 20% or more off regular rates at some properties. You can’t combine both discounts, so check when you make a Florida booking to find which discount works best for you.

For travelers going to Washington, D.C., check on the hotel rates available through Capitol Reservations. This reservation service has worked out discounts with 70 Washington-area hotels that range from 25% to 50% off rack (regular) rates.
