Soccer a Grand Game to Some, Not to Others

I was disgusted by Peter Rosam’s letter (July 9) suggesting changes for the World Cup. He correctly notes that football (soccer) does not have many interruptions, such as baseball or basketball. The reason is that we, outside the United States, are not required to continually halt the progress of our sporting events in order to answer to a television director who needs to fit in numerous commercials.

Why should we “modify” the world’s most popular sport because one person cannot maintain his attention span?
