Good Going Gracie Wins Hollywood Feature by 3 1/2 Lengths
Good Going Gracie, ridden by Gary Stevens, took the outside route and won the $35,000 feature race at Hollywood Park by 3 1/2 lengths Wednesday.
Pearl of Gold, with Fernando Valenzuela up, finished second, 2 3/4 lengths in front of Smart Deception, with Aaron Gryder aboard, in the race for fillies and mares 3-years-old and up.
Good Going Gracie covered 1 1/16 miles in 1:44 1/5 and earned $19,250. She paid $5.40, $3.80 and $3.20. Pearl of Gold returned $10 and $4.60, while Smart Deception paid $4.40 to show.
Good Going Gracie challenged for the lead early while on the outside and took command at the top of the stretch. Pearl of Gold challenged the winner on the far turn but drifted out in the upper stretch.
Smart Deception lacked early speed but got up for third place in the final strides.
