North Hollywood Teen Top Winner in L.A. Library Short Story Contest

Orion Walker, a ninth-grader at Walter Reed Junior High School in North Hollywood, was awarded first place in the Los Angeles Public Library’s Teen Short Story Contest during recent ceremonies at the Eagle Rock Branch Library, 5027 Caspar Ave. Author and screenwriter Burt Prelutsky judged the entries.
Second place in the contest, which drew 278 entries from 66 Los Angeles-area schools, went to Greg Wesley, a junior at Hollywood High School. Walker and Wesley also won their grade divisions. Other grade division winners were Tzippy Amster of Yavneh Hebrew Academy in the Fairfax area, 7th grade; Molly Sides of Clifton Middle School, Monrovia, 8th grade; Wing Cheung of Wilson Medical Magnet School, Boyle Heights area, 10th grade; and Jamie Rosenberg of Harvard School in Studio City, 12th grade.
