Never mind that Florence Griffith-Joyner had previously survived the greatest series of women’s 100-meter dashes in history, culminating in her 21st-Century time of 10.49.
Never mind that she had to run three heats of the 200, including an American record 21.77 in the second round, to reach the finals.
