The State : Ex-Con Held in Grenade Case

Share

An ex-convict wanted on a parole violation tossed a live grenade at a policeman who tried to stop him in San Bernardino, then led officers on a frantic freeway chase punctuated by shots fired from a sheriff’s helicopter, authorities said. Robert Bodily, 33, was arrested after a policeman rammed his car when he tried to leave Interstate 215 at Hallmark Parkway, San Bernardino Police Sgt. Dan Hernandez said. The policeman was slightly hurt in the collision, but no other injuries were reported. Hernandez said the incident began when another officer tried to stop Bodily as a suspect in two separate incidents in which shots were fired into two apartment complexes. Bodily was booked on suspicion of attempted murder of a police officer, shooting into an inhabited dwelling, possession of an explosive, exploding an explosive and transporting explosives without a permit. He was held without bail.
