Alphaville (Z Wednesday at 2:30 a.m.): Jean-Luc Godard’s bold, futuristic and witty cross between detective thriller and Fritz Lang’s “Metropolis” stars a world-weary Eddie Constantine. A key early Godard. (1:37)

Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (Channel 28 Wednesday at 11:30 p.m.): The Capra classic starring James Stewart as an idealistic young senator. (2:15)

Paramount on Parade (Z Saturday at 7:30 a.m.): Paramount’s 1930 answer to MGM’s “Hollywood Revue of 1929,” showing that its stars could talk, too--and maybe even sing and dance. This all-star revue is an irresistible collector’s item. (1:20)
