The date and place for the 61st annual Academy Awards--next year’s edition--was announced Tuesday. Oscar’s party will happen on Wednesday, March 29, 1989, at the Shrine Auditorium. It will be the first time since 1981 that Oscars haven’t been handed out on a Monday, and once again ABC will broadcast the show live. Nominations for Academy Awards will be announced Feb. 15, 1989.
